Atoll – A world leading radio network design and optimization software

For an operator, network design and optimisation are very important because they have to balance between the cost of building the stations and ensure the quality of network as well as the quality of calls to make customers satisfy.
As a leading radio planning and optimisation software suite of Forsk, an independent company providing radio and optimisation software products since 1987, Atoll is an open, scalable, and flexible multi-technology 64-bit network design and optimisation platform that supports wireless operators throughout the network lifecycle, from initial design to densification and optimisation.

Atoll supports a wide range of implementation scenarios, from standalone to enterprise-wide server-based configurations using distributed and multi-threaded computing.

Atoll is available and supported worldwide through a network of selected distributors who can provide local technical and commercial support. On-line support services are also available through our on-line support centre.

Atoll Highlights

Advanced Network Design Features
Atoll is a native 64-bit application that includes advanced multi-technology network planning features (e.g. GSM/UMTS/LTE, CDMA2000/LTE), and a combined single-RAN Multi-RAT GSM/UMTS/LTE Monte-Carlo simulator and traffic model. Atoll supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE, UMTS/HSPA, LTE, CDMA2000 1xRTT/EV-DO, TD-SCDMA, WiMAX, Wi-Fi and Microwave link networks. It also includes a high performance propagation calculation engine, and supports the latest wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi offload and LTE HetNets.

Integrated Optimisation Tools
Atoll includes a set of fully integrated AFP (Automatic Frequency Planning) and ACP (Automatic Cell Planning) tools, allowing operators to perform design and optimisation tasks seamlessly within Atoll using a single database and IT infrastructure.

Open and Flexible Architecture
Atoll supports multi-user environments through a database architecture that provides user rights management, data sharing, data integrity management, and easy integration with other IT systems. Atoll enables task automation through a standard macro language, and includes an advanced C++ Software Development Kit (SDK) that facilitates customisation and IT integration. Atoll also has the largest range of compatible third-party products on the market.

State-of-the-art GIS Features
Atoll supports multi-format/multi-resolution geographical data. High-resolution urban and country-wide datasets are supported and displayed interactively as multiple layers including engineering and prediction plots. Atoll also features an integrated vector/raster cartography editor and integrates with leading GIS tools such as MapInfo and ArcView.

Distributed Computing and Multi-Threading
Atoll allows distributing calculations over several computers and supports parallel computing on multi- core/processor servers, thus dramatically reducing calculation times and getting the most out of the hardware.

Several new features and changes have been introduced in the version of Atoll 3.1.2 (build 4389) made available on May 3,2012.

In May of 2012, Atoll version 3.1.2 was released with new features and innovation. Atoll 3.1.2 is the first release that includes both 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Atoll, comprising 32-bit and 64-bit components: Atoll core, technology modules, AFP, ACP, propagation models, etc. Thus, Forsk provides its clients with the possibility to install and use the edition of Atoll which best suits their needs and system configurations, the 32-bit or 64-bit edition. The 32-bit edition of Atoll continues to provide the same functionality as the 64-bit edition within the limits of the 32-bit architecture. By going beyond the limits of 32-bit applications, 64-bit Atoll allows operators to plan and optimise complex multi-technology networks faster, with higher accuracy and on a larger scale and to implement more automation in their radio planning & optimisation processes.

Particularly as followings:

1.    Working Environment
•    User interface: Option copy image in old version now enables user select either a bitmap image of selected zone, a metafile of the selected zone, or the georeference coordinates.
•    Database: When working a database, and synchronising a master project with a work project, the user can prevent Atoll from overwriting the shared path loss folder by defining an option in the atoll.ini file

2.    Wi-Fi:
•    The Atoll WiMAX/ BWA module now includes support for Wi-Fi
•    A dedicated Atoll project template is available for Wi-Fi documents.
•   Atoll support the following OFDM-based IEEE 802.11 WLAN standards: 802.11a, 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11ac.
•    Atoll enables you to work with different Wi-Fi frequency bands and channel widths.
•    Atoll includes support for MIMO in 801.11n, and 802.11ac
•    Atoll enables you to predict radio coverage, evaluate network capacity using Monte Carlo simulations, and analyse the amount of mobile traffic that can be offloaded from a mobile network to a Wi-Fi network (LTE - Wi-Fi, UMTS - Wi-Fi, CDMA200 - Wi-Fi, etc.).

Moreover, the new version has new innovative functions: customized option enables users to define new option by adding * ini file, adding auxiliary functions, easier and friendlier interface for user.

Until September of 2012,  more than 5000 licenses of Atoll were activated for 300 customers in 100 countries, this fact proves that Atoll is a sufficient radio planning and optimisation software. As a reseller of Forsk in Vietnam and South East Asia, Viet Vuong and Forsk have provided Atoll software to such famous operator as Viettel Corporation and Vimplecom Lao Co.Ltd (Beeline Lao). Viet Vuong commits to be with Forsk to continue bringing the innovative planning and optimisation software, training and technical support to the user, in order to achieve the highest efficiency.
